Un Flic (1972)
Jean-Pierre Melville, joined by his frequent accomplice Alain Delon, saw the release of his final film, Un Flic, in 1972. At its core are the meticulous heist scenes typical of Melville’s work. However, it’s no fun to see his intelligent criminals thwarted by off-scene detective work that gets no exposition. It’s lazy and insulting to the underworld characters he so thoroughly devotes the screen time to.
